Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Services, Assistant Directors, or Facilities Services Supervisors, the Security Guard/Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for protecting the life and property of all persons on Allied Services premises and securing buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. Performs a variety of maintenance duties, including maintaining, repairing, operating, and renovating plant and facilities. Must be able to work on own, without supervision, for assigned shift work and perform the required security and maintenance tasks that occur on afternoon, evening or weekend shifts. The Security Guard/Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible to call supervisors and/or additional staff as required to meet the task or emergencies as they occur. Security duties include ability to investigate and complete Incident Reports for security related incidents that occur on shifts. Observe and address suspicious persons in buildings or on campus. Perform foot and/or vehicle patrols as needed and ordered. Respond to Fire Alarms in buildings and properly reset Fire Panel after event or when told all clear by the Fire Department or supervisor. Perform scheduled Fire Drills in buildings and fill out critique forms. Assess all Security Incidents before acting. Call the police or 911 if a situation seems urgent. Assess the situation and determine the most appropriate response to diffuse the situation. Never escalate a situation verbally or physically. Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients served. Basic knowledge of building trades, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.

EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent required. One (1) year of trade school or experience as listed below.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two (2) years work experience as a Maintenance Mechanic in a similar sized health care institution in engineering discipline. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in Security.
SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with all levels of corporate personnel, the public, and outside agencies. Current and valid PA driver's license required. Individual must be able to travel to all Allied sites. Must perform position in a safe and careful manner, following all of Allied's safety policies and procedures in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
