Public Safety Officer Lycoming College, a small private liberal arts college in Williamsport, PA, seeks a Public Safety Officer to join our Safety, Security & Law Enforcement department. The officer will patrol campus, respond to emergencies, enforce college policies, and promote a safe, inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include incident reporting, access control, safety escorts, and collaboration with local agencies. Candidates should demonstrate sound judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to community-oriented safety in a diverse, collaborative academic setting. Relevant security experience preferred. Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of campus buildings, residence halls, parking lots, and grounds Monitor for and respond to safety hazards, suspicious activity, and policy violations Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, disturbances, fire alarms, and severe weather events, following established protocols Enforce college policies and relevant laws while maintaining a service‑oriented approach Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident reports and daily activity logs Assist with access control, including locking/unlocking buildings, managing keys, and checking alarms Monitor security systems and cameras and coordinate response to alerts Provide safety escorts and general assistance to students, faculty, staff, and visitors Support crowd and traffic control at special events and during peak campus activities Collaborate with local law enforcement, fire, and medical agencies as needed Participate in safety drills, emergency preparedness activities, and ongoing training Campus security and safety procedures Emergency response and incident management Observation and situational awareness Basic report writing and documentation Radio communication protocols Customer service and interpersonal communication Conflict de‑escalation techniques Basic computer proficiency and incident reporting software Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and college policies First aid/CPR/AED response Access control and key management Use of security systems and CCTV monitoring Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Basic security, campus safety, or law enforcement training preferred Crisis intervention and de‑escalation training preferred Background check and clearance required
