An Armed Security Officer provides security for property at hospitals, hotels, warehouses or office buildings. Have a license to carry a weapon ranging from a club to a firearm. Monitors entrances and patrols buildings, watches for intruders or vandals; reports building maintenance problems; deals with customers or visitors that create a disturbance in the building.
Monday through Friday 7:30AM to 3:30PM/4:30PM During School Hours-Additional Hours are Available to Work During Events Duties include but are not limited to: Use of weapon protection machines to ensure safety of all students and faculty entering the school Conduct roving foot patrols through schools Must be willing to work overtime when requested

Must Meet the State of South Carolina requirements for an armed private security officer: High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Ability to pass extensive background checks, including criminal history check, employment, and education verification, and meet requirements for access to sensitive information. Ability to pass a drug screening Pass all site security requirements including advanced handgun training, use of force and use of intermediate weapons training. Pass the following post-offer/pre-employment testing in accordance with assigned site requirements/regulations:

Work extended hours Work alone while armed Work and perform under stress Work in adverse weather Provide armed escorts Stop, question, and detain individuals Respond to emergencies with unplanned strenuous physical activity Climb stairs in an emergency Sit or stand alone for at least two hours Be able to bend, reach, squat, push, pull and lift 20 pounds for your entire shift Use site issued handgun with dominant and non-dominant hand Use handcuffs Ability to function in emergencies and unusual environments. The examinee shall demonstrate stability and capacity for the following: Mental alertness and emotional stability Acuity of senses; ability of expression to allow rapid, accurate communication by spoken, written, audible, visible, or tactile signals. The use of corrective eyeglasses or contact lenses shall not interfere with an individual's ability to effectively perform assigned security duties during normal or emergency operations. No use of medications that while the individual is working, that would incapacitate, alter mental status, judgment or decrease physical or mental response times (e.g., anxiety relief via sedatives, narcotic pain medications, etc.). Individuals with medical conditions which may impact the ability to perform the essential functions of the job shall provide medical evidence that the condition is controlled with proper medication and/or treatment and/or reasonable accommodations. The site physician may require the candidate to obtain a letter of clearance from his/her personal physician attesting that the candidate can perform the essential elements of the job.
