Advertised Job Summary USC Beaufort is seeking to hire a pool of qualified Temporary Public Safety Officers that will work on an as needed basis. Under the direction of the Director of Public Safety, these public safety officers provide security for all USC Beaufort campus locations(Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Island) including but not limited to: providing a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and campus visitors; preventing theft of and damage to equipment and contents of University buildings and property; deterring disorderly acts and unwanted intrusions at University buildings; all other duties as assigned, and enforcement of rules, regulations and policies as may be promulgated. Qualifications A high school education and one (1) year experience in law enforcement, military experience, safety or security activities preferred. A valid driver's license and clean background check are required. Must have general computer skills, be able to communicate effectively, produce written reports, assess situations and develop a plan of action in a timely manner. Must be physically able to pursue an assailant, lift a person if necessary and act in emergency situations. Outdoor work required. First Responder training is desirable.
