  • Full-time About the Role Atlantic Communications & Security is looking for a dependable, capable, and motivated Technician III to join our growing team.
We install, service, and maintain security and low voltage systems for commercial, residential, HOA, hospitality, municipal, and other customers throughout the Grand Strand and surrounding areas. This position is for an experienced field technician who can complete quality work without constant supervision. The right candidate can troubleshoot unfamiliar problems, make sound field decisions, communicate professionally, and take ownership of a project from start to finish. What You'll Do Install, service, troubleshoot, and maintain: Video surveillance and NVR systems Access control and door hardware Intrusion alarm systems Structured cabling and network equipment Related low-voltage equipment Review proposals, drawings, maps, and project requirements. Verify materials, tools, equipment, and job readiness. Work independently or lead an assigned crew. Install, terminate, label, test, configure, and document systems. Troubleshoot wiring, power, network, camera, access-control, alarm, and equipment issues. Install and commission cameras, NVRs, access panels, readers, locks, alarm devices, and related infrastructure. Understand maglocks, strikes, door contacts, REX devices, relays, power supplies, and basic alarm zones. Make minor field adjustments without changing the approved scope, price, function, or appearance. Communicate with customers, property managers, contractors, and site representatives. Provide basic customer instructions and system handoff. Complete cleanup, punch-list work, photographs, testing, labeling, and closeout documentation. Escalate safety concerns, scope changes, customer disputes, major obstacles, advanced programming and customer education issues. What "Complete" Means A completed job must be working, tested, labeled, documented, clean, and ready for the customer.
Technicians are expected to:
Complete routine work without constant management direction. Troubleshoot logically before replacing parts or requesting assistance. Stay within reasonable labor and miscellaneous-material expectations. Make sound routine decisions in the field. Leave no visible unfinished work. Submit accurate photographs, test results, device information, programming notes, and as-built changes. A system that technically works but is poorly labeled, unfinished, or undocumented does not meet our standard. Required Qualifications Proven experience with low-voltage and security systems; approximately five years preferred. Strong understanding of wiring, power, polarity, continuity, relays, networking, and troubleshooting. Experience with surveillance, access control, alarms, structured cabling, or related systems. Ability to read proposals, drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics. Ability to work independently and lead a small crew when needed. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to work from ladders, lifts, crawlspaces, unfinished areas, and other field environments. Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, testers, and other equipment. Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight travel. Experience level alone will not qualify someone for this position. Demonstrated competency, judgment, efficiency, and workmanship are required. Preferred Experience Access-control systems Alarm systems Cameras and NVRs Basic IP addressing knowledge Copper and fiber installation termination and splicing System takeovers and break-fix service Hospitality, municipal, commercial, HOA, or multi-site projects Manufacturer certifications BICSI or OSHA training Advanced programming is not required immediately, but the successful candidate must be willing to learn camera analytics, NVR programming, access-control databases, credential management, alarm programming, advanced commissioning, and customer training. Compensation Compensation will be based on experience, technical competency, and demonstrated ability to perform the role independently. Hiring Process Applicants may be asked to complete a hands-on or written competency evaluation before receiving an offer.
The evaluation may cover:
  • Cat6 termination, labeling, and testing
  • Basic access-control wiring
  • Relay and power-supply troubleshooting
  • Camera or NVR network setup
  • Reading wiring diagrams or project drawings
  • Identifying required materials
  • Documenting completed work These evaluations are used to understand each candidate's current skill level and training needs not as the sole basis for hiring decisions .
Atlantic will also consider work ethic, judgment, reliability, communication, willingness to learn, relevant experience, and overall fit for the position. Evaluation standards will be applied consistently to all candidates. Pay:
From $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
