Security Sergeant (3rd Shift)
Job Description
This position is under the direct supervision of the Security Lieutenant and is responsible for the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, customers and all visitors. The successful candidate will experience in security, law enforcement, or military and have the ability to lead and develop a team of Security Officers. 3rd
Shift:
11pm-7am
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Required to be uniformed, armed position with rank insignia and duty gear.
- PDA assigned for as-needed, on-call accessibility.
- Post rotation/patrol coverage and special projects.
- Platoon Supervisor/Evaluator.
- Shift order-in notifications.
- Sergeant assistant (more of a parallel role than oversight).
- Acting Officer-In-Charge.
- Use of all department vehicles.
- If there is a task that has not been completed, do not depart for the day without notifying the Director.
Required to perform or oversee a variety of duties to include:
Performing security patrols,
Enforcing badge procedures,
Protecting property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents,
Investigates and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities,
Safety and fire hazards and other security related situations,
Provide any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors with the department's procedures,
Serve as training officer to new security staff,
May perform duties of a Security Sergeant during required coverage as assigned, and performs other related duties as assigned by a Lieutenant and or Security Department Manager.
Lead and develop a team of Security Officers
Work with HR to maintain all appropriate coaching and corrective documentation for your direct reports.
Notify Director of Security of any significant security issues (breach, media, injury) or needs (manpower, equipment, training) as they arise.
Prepare and review written reports as required (time cards, investigations, evaluations, discipline).
Additional responsibilities may include providing ancillary support in case of emergency.
Assist is maintaining a clean and clutter free workstation.
Department specialty assignments and/or special projects assigned to individuals.
Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Minimum of five years (5) industrial security experience
High school diploma
Candidates with prior military and law enforcement experience are preferred.
Candidates cannot have been convicted or pled nolo contendre to a felony or job-related crime or a state or federal misdemeanor involving the use or attempted use of physical force or the use or threatened use of a firearm.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license.
Must be proficient in developing records systems, reports, and secure system processing requirements.
Working knowledge of security requirements and incident investigation.
Candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screening.
Candidates must successfully complete First Responder and basic training for reserve/intermittent police officer.
MS Office proficiency with Word, Access and proprietary databases.
Competencies and Skills:
Good command of the English language and demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills. Secondary language is a plus.
Ability to follow precise processes.
Ability to use good independent judgement.
Ability to lead and develop a team.
Physical Demands:
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
May be required to lift up to 30 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.
The following Personal Protective Equipment is required: Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day and night shifts. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. Individual is exposed to hearing alarms and hazards associated with fighting fires and rendering emergency medical assistance, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents and oils.
The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. It is reasonably anticipated that the individual will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious materials in the course of their duties.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain firefighting or EMT activities when noise levels may be loud.
