Unarmed | Government Facility Excelsior Defense is seeking a professional, dependable Unarmed Security Officer for an assignment for a government administrative facility in Smyrna, Tennessee. This is an excellent opportunity for a retired law enforcement officer, military veteran, former corrections professional, or experienced security officer who is looking for a consistent weekday assignment in a professional environment. This is not a high-activity security post. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable working in a structured, sometimes quiet environment while remaining alert, approachable, and professional throughout the entire shift.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a professional and courteous security presence at the facility. Monitor and control access of employees, visitors, vendors, and other authorized personnel. Verify identification and appropriately challenge unauthorized or suspicious persons. Receive visitors and provide clear, polite directions and assistance. Conduct routine foot patrols and visual inspections of the property. Observe and report suspicious activity, safety hazards, and unusual conditions. Assist with visitor escorts and access-control procedures when required. Respond appropriately to alarms, medical situations, emergencies, and other incidents. Maintain accurate security documentation and communicate with Excelsior supervision. The officer is expected to remain at the front desk, outside entrance, and ensure that only authorized personnel gain entry into the building.

THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS POST

We are specifically looking for someone who is professional, polite, observant, patient, and comfortable interacting with Veterans, VA employees, visitors, and vendors. This position is particularly well suited for someone who has completed a career in law enforcement or military and wants a steady security assignment where professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, and presence matter more than constant activity. Candidates must understand that a quiet post is still an active security assignment. Remaining alert and attentive throughout the shift is essential.

PAY DETAILS

This post pays $18.55 per hour + an additional Health and Welfare rate of $4.29 per hour that is distributed into a 401(a) account.

ALL FEDERAL HOLIDAYS ARE PAID DAYS OFF.
