JOB SUMMARY
The 24/7 Safety & Security Guard is responsible for general security operations that protect Bert Ogden Arena, its patrons, employees, and the interests of Golden Grape Entertainment. This part-time role includes patrolling the facility, monitoring and authorizing access, securing doors and areas, and systems (including two-way radios, CCTV, and screening equipment), documenting and reporting incidents, and maintaining required training and certifications. The position reports to the Executive Vice President and plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, secure environment for all events and daily operations.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE

Access control is a core responsibility — you will monitor and authorize entrance by checking credentials or issuing visitor badges and unlock/secure doors as directed. You will operate security systems and equipment, including two-way radios, CCTV, screening devices, and golf carts for patrol and response. Accurate documentation and timely reporting of observations, incidents, and critical information are required every shift. Schedules vary and include overnight shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays — reliability and flexibility are essential. You must be able to remain calm and function effectively during critical or emergency incidents while following policies and supervisor direction. The environment can be fast-paced and occasionally loud, with exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Facility Patrol, Access Control & Area Security Patrol the facility as directed to prevent or minimize property loss, property damage, personal injury, or situations having a negative impact on the organization. Monitor and authorize entrance through issuance of visitor badges or verification of credentials for employees, guests, and others. Unlock and secure doors before and after events as directed; move barricades to secure or open specific areas in and around the arena as needed. Security Systems & Screening Operate metal detectors and wands to screen individuals or packages and prevent passage of prohibited items into restricted areas. Monitor security systems and communications equipment; report any issues with facility systems during assigned shifts. Reporting, Training, Compliance & Professional Conduct Ensure all shift-related issues, observations, and critical information are documented, verified, and accurately reported to the appropriate decision maker in a timely manner. Complete ongoing in-service training and maintain all certifications and required training as specified. Ensure understanding of and compliance with all organizational guidance, instructions, policies, and procedures, and properly execute assigned duties. Complete all other duties as assigned.
SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE
The facility is consistently patrolled, and access is properly controlled, helping prevent loss, damage, and safety incidents. Doors, barricades, and restricted areas are secured or opened as directed, supporting smooth and safe event operations. Security systems, radios, CCTV, and screening equipment are used correctly, and any issues are reported promptly. Shift reports and critical information are accurate, timely, and clearly communicated to supervisors. You remain professional, calm, and effective during routine duties and during critical or emergency incidents. You are viewed as a reliable, safety-minded team member who consistently protects the facility, patrons, and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; Associate degree in Law Enforcement, Criminology, or a related field preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the military, security, law enforcement, or a related field. Background in corporate security, loss prevention, military, or law enforcement, with experience operating in a diverse workforce at major public venues, is preferred. CPR certification is preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional appearance and positive attitude. Strong judgment, common sense, and the ability to follow directions and organizational policies and guidelines. Ability to function well during critical or emergency incidents while remaining calm and professional. Fluently bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Schedules vary based on operational and event needs. Ability to work overnight shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays is required. Reliability and flexibility are essential given the 24/7 nature of facility security coverage.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to carry, move, and handle up to 50 pounds. Ability to move and work in a fast-paced environment that can occasionally be loud. This position may be exposed to hazardous materials and various weather conditions. Willingness and ability to work overnight shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required.
