Facilities Job Purpose:
As a member of our security and safety team, the Security Guard plays a key role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our faculty, staff, students, and visitors. This position provides a proactive presence at the Security Desk and throughout the campus, ensuring the safety and security of everyone on our grounds.
Schedule:
Saturdays and Sundays - 8:45 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. (14 hours per day x 2 days per week, 28 hours per week).
Essential Functions/Goals:
Monitors both security cameras and onsite personnel to watch for any violations of campus safety/security policies. Must be able to interact fairly and politely with any campus personnel encountered on site. Reports findings to security supervisor and other guards on team. Performs campus patrols to check for particular safety/security details to be reported on. Contacts City of Redmond emergency personnel (Police, Fire Department, EMS) immediately for any security, fire life safety, and medical issues warranting their degree of intervention. Makes announcements on the campus PA when needed to address emergencies and also to announce campus closure to those student occupants at closing time. Issues and manages campus badges to those in need of them. Upholds the campus security/safety policies. Participates in campus security/safety meetings with the security team. Fills out a security-safety log on a daily basis to document any compliance-related issues. Wears a security radio and earpiece at all times on shift for emergency communications. Must be highly reliable with all the guard tasks assigned and very timely in both shift arrival and departure times. Must be able to take the campus into lockdown in a timely manner as trained on the job. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Competencies:
Must have a High School diploma as a minimum and speak English fluently. Must be able to work amicably with faculty, staff, students, and guests on campus during all interactions with them. Must be able to successfully complete a background check and drug screen. Must have current First Aid and AED certification or be willing to undertake the appropriate training before starting work. Must have and exhibit some computer usage skills. Must have proper grooming and retain an acceptable dress code. Must have reliable transportation.
Experience Level:
Must provide a current resume including all accrued official security experience(s) and list current contact names and phone numbers for both professional and personal references. Previous successful guard experience preferred. Hourly Wage - $20 to $21.50 per hour, DOE This is a part-time position. Salary is dependent on level of relevant experience.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity. May need to lift up to 50 lbs. Generally, the job requires about 75% sitting, 10% walking, 10% standing, and 5% writing.
