Job Description

This is an on-call position, which means it is a part-time, hourly role. This position will work an estimated 10 - 15 hours per week. The starting pay rate for this position is $20 per hour. This position is not eligible for benefits. On-call positions may have routine or variable work schedules. The Community & Behavioral Health (CBH) Team has an opening for a Youth Tobacco Operative to assist in conducting undercover inspections for compliance with federal regulations prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21. The goal of the program is to ensure tobacco retailers are complying with federal laws and regulations intended to prevent them from selling tobacco products to youth under 21. This position may require work on the weekends and evenings and will report directly to the FDA-credentialed Investigator.
This youth position will:
Conduct compliance inspections of tobacco retailers. Complete paperwork detailing inspection. Travel via car with the FDA-credentialed Investigator. Attend trainings and workshops as needed. Perform work procedures related to the assigned work area. Other duties as assigned. Basic writing, typing, spelling, and reading comprehension. Ability and willingness to travel to retail locations, which includes traveling in a car for several hours at a time as part of the inspection process. Must be able to attend trainings and workshop as required. Must have the ability to carry out detailed and involved written and oral instructions. Make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions; perceive the impact and implications of decisions; commit to action even in uncertain situations to accomplish organizational goals. Readily available with minimal scheduling conflicts (school/extracurricular). Entry-level opportunity with no prior experience or education required.
Age Requirement:
18-20 years and three months of age. Must pass criminal background check.
