This is an entry-level investigative position working under the direction of a Lead Investigator. The long-term goal for the right person is to develop into a full Lead Investigator role, but this position begins with learning our process, supporting active investigations, conducting research, preparing reports, and helping the team move cases forward accurately and efficiently. This is a full-time, on-site position in our Clinton Township office. There are no regular field work requirements for this role, and this is not a work-from-home position. The Investigative Assistant will also support the Team Leader on a variety of investigative, research, reporting, and administrative tasks. Job Responsibilities Identify each client's unique goals and utilize appropriate methods to help reach those goals. Develop an understanding of our organizational goals in order to consistently meet client expectations. Learn and execute our proprietary investigative methods and techniques. Assist with assigning portions of each investigation to individual team members and follow up to help ensure completion in a timely manner. Draft detailed and supported investigative reports that clearly explain the work conducted. Conduct data mining from proprietary and open-source channels. Perform public records searches and draft Freedom of Information Act requests to government entities. Conduct criminal and civil court record searches. Efficiently maneuver through and collect open-source data. Self-manage a weekly caseload while meeting deadlines. Work independently while also contributing in a team atmosphere. Support the Lead Investigator and investigative team with case setup, research, documentation, and reporting. Job Requirements Two years of college coursework or a bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred. Strong writing skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills. Ability to self-manage and self-start. Ability to work full-time, on-site in our Clinton Township office. Ability to pass a thorough regulated background check. Investigator License Candidates do not need to already be licensed as private investigators. This position works under the company's corporate investigative license and under the direction of experienced investigative staff. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, curious, professional, and comfortable working with information from multiple sources. This person should be able to write clearly, follow instructions, manage deadlines, and support the investigative team in producing accurate, well-documented work. We especially encourage candidates with backgrounds or interests in areas such as: Criminal justice Paralegal studies Legal studies Court systems or public records Journalism Research Report writing Open-source research Administrative or case support work requiring accuracy and discretion Prior investigative experience is helpful but not required. This position is best suited for someone interested in professional investigative research and case development. It is not primarily a security, casino surveillance, loss prevention, or law enforcement style role.
