Contract / Project-Based Position Summary The Calculus Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides specialized expertise in the development and validation of insurance licensing exams. SMEs ensure that exam content reflects current industry practice, regulatory requirements, and promotes fair and reliable assessment for candidates seeking licensure in various states. Responsibilities
  • Participate in job task analyses to identify essential skills and knowledge areas for insurance professionals.
  • Develop, review, and validate written exam items for accuracy, clarity, and relevance.
  • Assign criticality ratings and validate item checkpoints for performance-based assessments.
  • Engage in standard-setting studies and quality assurance reviews to maintain exam integrity.
  • Collaborate with committees and stakeholders to ensure compliance with state-specific regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ad to all security protocols for exam content. Qualifications & Experience
  • Active license in at least one of the following fields: Life and Health.
  • Minimum three years of work experience in the relevant field of insurance.
  • Not currently involved in pre-licensing training or exam preparation for insurance candidates.
  • Strong understanding of industry regulations, ethical standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent written communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to commit to scheduled review sessions and meet project deadlines. Commitment & Compensation
  • Part-time, project-based engagement with flexible scheduling.
  • Compensation provided per session or deliverable (details determined by project scope).
