Job Description

A rapidly growing background consulting firm is adding to their team! The Background Investigator is responsible for conducting thorough and comprehensive investigations on individuals and companies. This role involves researching, gathering, analyzing, and verifying information to assess an individual's qualifications, suitability for employment or security clearance, and other investigative purposes.

Direct Hire Responsibilities:
Conduct background investigations, including criminal history checks, credit reports, employment verification, and reference checks. Gather and research relevant information using public records, databases, online resources, and other investigative tools. Interview subjects, references, and other relevant individuals to obtain information and verify details. Analyze findings to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, potential red flags, and other areas requiring further investigation. Investigate complex cases, resolve issues, and make informed decisions based on available information. Prepare detailed, accurate written reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Manage multiple cases simultaneously while prioritizing assignments and meeting required deadlines. Maintain strict confidentiality and protect sensitive information in accordance with privacy requirements. Ensure all investigations and processes comply with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and company guidelines. Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with clients, legal teams, and other stakeholders. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, History, Business, or a related field. Strong research, analytical, and investigative skills with the ability to identify and evaluate relevant information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and accurate reports. Proficiency with investigative databases, background check software, and other research tools. Knowledge of investigative techniques, methodologies, and best practices. Familiarity with applicable legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements. Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in research and documentation. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
