Req #1054 616 S Access Rd, Franklin Park, IL 60131, USA Apply Share Job Description Posted Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 2:00 AM Position Definition Covenant Aviation Security (CAS) is seeking a Cargo Screener to support Lufthansa cargo screening operations at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD). Cargo Screeners perform TSA and LCAG approved cargo screening and complete required security documentation. Screeners use multiple screening methods to ensure compliance with TSA, LCAG, and CAS standards. The role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient cargo security operations. Employment Compensation & Benefits Covenant Aviation Security offers a competitive compensation package, with a starting hourly rate of $24.35 per hour . Schedule & Hours 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM Saturday, Sunday, & Monday 10:00 AM- 6:30 PM Tuesday & Wednesday Off Thursday and Friday This is a combined schedule assigned to one (1) Cargo Screener Essential Functions Screening Operations Conduct physical inspections of cargo, containers, pallets, personal property, and freight in accordance with TSA regulations. Operate X-ray equipment, Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) equipment, and other approved screening technology. Perform physical searches of cargo when required. Verify all person's credentials and badges, ensuring the name, company and expiration date are all present on the badge. Verifying the picture matches the person seeking access. Identify prohibited or suspicious items and follow established escalation procedures. Verify shipping documentation and ensure compliance with customer and TSA requirements. Prevent unauthorized or prohibited materials from entering aircraft. Maintain continuous chain of custody and security of screened cargo. Compliance & Documentation Complete required reports, logs, and screening documentation accurately and on time. Follow all TSA, Lufthansa, Airport, and Covenant Aviation Security Standard Operating Procedures. Maintain operational awareness and communicate security concerns to supervisors. Utilize radios and other communication equipment as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must possess an original U.S. Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, or a valid U.S. Passport for I-9 verification. High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a valid PERC card & a 20-hour Security Training Certification. Must possess a valid state-issued Driver's License or Identification Card.
Must successfully pass:
TSA Security Threat Assessment Clearance with USPS 7-year employment, education, and criminal history verification Pre-employment, random, and annual drug screening requirements Must be able to pass a color vision recognition test Must have reliable transportation. Must be able to safely work in environments where trained detection dogs are regularly present. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Preferred Qualifications Previous cargo screening, aviation security, warehouse, logistics, or security experience. Experience operating X-ray or screening equipment. Experience working in a regulated or safety-sensitive environment.
