The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Airport Escort position. This position is responsible for safely and efficiently escorting authorized personnel through secure areas of the airport, while ensuring compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements and airport security protocols. Selected candidates will serve as key liaisons among contractors, vendors, and airport operations personnel by maintaining clear communication and demonstrating professionalism and situational awareness. The ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, be punctual, and have the ability to follow detailed procedures in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Previous experience in airport operations or security is desirable. This critical support role helps maintain the integrity of airport security while facilitating essential work within secured areas of the airport. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Staffs security access points to the Airport Operations Area (AOA). Inspects all vehicles entering the AOA for explosive devices. Conducts random security identification inspections. Escorts construction, inspection, and related contractor personnel, as well as emergency vehicles, within secured areas of the airport, including taxiways and runways. Performs basic, unskilled support work in addition to escort duties.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility List to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services. Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and six months of full-time work experience, which has included contact with the public. Must successfully complete Movement Area training during probationary/qualifying period. All qualifying education and each experience must be clearly documented in the "Education" and "Work Experience" sections of the application. Working Conditions:

Work scheduled off-hours shifts. Work out of doors in all weather conditions. Work in proximity to potentially hazardous construction sites.

Licensing and Certification:

Possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of hire.

Medical Examination:

Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:

Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Residency Requirement:

Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Citizenship:

Background Check:

Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted and maintain a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration.

Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program:

Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a ten year employment and five year residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal. Mobility to work in an office, stores or construction setting, use standard office equipment and drive a vehicle to perform escort and delivery duties; strength to lift materials and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds; ability to stand for long periods of time; agility to climb in and out of large trucks to inspect cargo; vision to read printed materials and to drive in evening and night light conditions; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, on the radio or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation. Mans the security check points entering the Airport Operations Area, inspects all vehicles entering the airfield for explosives under the guidelines and mandates of the FAA. Performs random identification checks on individuals in the secure and restricted areas of the airport. Notifies Airport Operations Coordinators and Metro of suspicious situations and secure area violations. Responds to security breaches to assist in maintaining security perimeter integrity. Checks badges of construction staff, inspectors and others involved with on-site construction projects within the airport. Operates a two-way radio to maintain communications with the FAA and Ramp Control towers while driving on the ramp, taxiway, and runway areas. Sets up construction cones, light carts, barricades and barriers to insure a safe and secure perimeter around all construction sites and hazards. Drives a small truck or similar vehicle to escort approved staff to the proper construction site. Escorts emergency vehicles and staff in secured areas. Maintains records regarding individuals escorted; reports any incidents to the supervisor. Maintains County vehicles in a clean and orderly condition. Uses vehicle to deliver supplies to various locations at the airport facilities; unloads and stores materials. Provides basic factual information to the public in response to inquiries. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. May assist transportation specialist staff in the movement of traffic in the terminal area.
