As a leader in transportation security, you will manage screening procedures, enforce compliance with security policies, and lead a team of officers dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety. Your role is vital in safeguarding transportation environments through proactive supervision, policy interpretation, and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Supervise daily transportation security screening operations, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and security protocols. Lead and motivate a team of security officers, providing guidance on policy interpretation, conflict management, and emotional regulation techniques to handle challenging situations effectively. Conduct thorough background checks on personnel and visitors to maintain a secure environment. Oversee manual handling and heavy lifting tasks required during screening processes while maintaining safety standards. Interpret and enforce aviation security policies in compliance with federal regulations and airport security requirements. Perform in-person customer service by assisting passengers with screening procedures, addressing concerns professionally, and de-escalating conflicts using proven techniques. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies during incidents or emergencies, ensuring swift communication and response. Monitor security systems such as CCTV footage and X-ray interpretation tools to identify potential threats or irregularities. Train team members on airport security protocols, de-escalation techniques, and emergency response procedures. Maintain accurate records of security activities, incident reports, background checks, and shift logs to ensure operational transparency. Requirements High School Diploma or GED; current TSA screening certification; and at least one year as a certified TSO in good standing. Proven experience in aviation or transportation security roles with knowledge of airport security protocols. Strong command of English for effective communication with diverse teams and travelers. Ability to interpret policies accurately while applying standard operating procedures (SOPs). Skilled in emotional regulation techniques to manage stressful situations calmly and professionally. Physical capability for manual handling tasks including heavy lifting required during screening activities. Experience performing background checks on personnel or visitors within a security context. Proficiency in performing transportation security screening using X-ray machines and other inspection tools. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle in-person interactions confidently. Knowledge of conflict management strategies and de-escalation techniques for resolving disputes effectively. Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards. Successfully complete a TSA-required pre-employment medical evaluation and remain medically qualified. Successfully complete pre-employment and random drug testing.
