This dynamic position involves overseeing screening procedures, managing security personnel, and ensuring compliance with all transportation security policies. Your leadership will help maintain a safe, secure environment for travelers, staff, and cargo while delivering exceptional customer service. Duties Supervise transportation security screening processes, including passenger and baggage checks, to ensure adherence to established protocols. Lead and coordinate a team of Transportation Security Officers (TSOs), providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to uphold high standards of security and customer service. Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and operational coverage. Ensure regulatory compliance and documentation and serve as liaison with TSA, airport stakeholders, and emergency responders. Interpret and apply complex policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain compliance with federal regulations and airport security requirements. Conduct thorough background checks on personnel and vendors as part of screening procedures, ensuring only authorized individuals access secure areas. Utilize X-ray interpretation skills to identify prohibited items or threats within baggage or cargo, responding swiftly to potential security risks. Manage conflict resolution through de-escalation techniques and emotional regulation methods when addressing passenger concerns or disruptive behavior. Perform manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting of baggage or equipment while maintaining safety standards. Enforce airport security protocols diligently, including performing in-person customer service interactions that balance security needs with a positive traveler experience. Document incidents, conduct investigations when necessary, and prepare detailed reports for internal review or law enforcement agencies. Oversee the implementation of security measures during peak times or special events, ensuring continuous compliance with all transportation safety policies. Requirements High School Diploma or GED; current TSA screening certification; at least one year as a certified LTSO in good standing; and demonstrated supervisory experience. Successfully complete a TSA-required pre-employment medical evaluation and remain medically qualified. Successfully complete pre-employment and random drug testing. Pass criminal history, credit, fingerprinting, employment, and education verification requirements. Qualifications Proven experience in aviation security or transportation screening environments, demonstrating familiarity with airport security protocols. Strong knowledge of policy interpretation related to transportation safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Excellent communication skills in English for clear instructions and effective customer interactions. Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting safely and efficiently. Skilled in X-ray interpretation for threat detection within baggage or cargo screenings. Demonstrated capability in conflict management, de-escalation techniques, and emotional regulation strategies to handle challenging situations professionally. Experience with in-person customer service roles within high-security environments is preferred. Ability to interpret complex policies accurately while maintaining compliance with all security regulations. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently under pressure. Complete required national security documentation, including SF-86 when applicable; obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance as a condition of employment; and maintain an airport security badge.
