Job Description

Lead Cabinet Builder 1st shift (7:00am-3:30pm) $30-$40/hr The Lead Cabinet Builder plays a key role in daily woodshop operations by coordinating workflow, setting up jobs, selecting materials, and sequencing production tasks to ensure efficient, high‑quality output. This position blends hands‑on cabinet fabrication with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring team members, overseeing equipment use, and ensuring all work aligns with drawings, specifications, and shop standards. Responsibilities Woodshop Operations — Coordinate daily workflow, set up jobs, select materials, and sequence production tasks to meet project timelines. Equipment Leadership — Operate, program, and guide staff on CNC routers, edge banders, jointers, table saws, wall saws, boring machines, and related equipment. Blueprint Interpretation — Read and interpret drawings and specifications; support team understanding to ensure accurate production. Layout & Fabrication — Mark dimensions, perform precise layout work, and participate in fabrication, assembly, repair, and finishing of cabinets and wood components. Finishing & Hardware — Apply laminates, stains, varnishes, and paint; install hardware including hinges, drawer slides, and pulls. Engineering Collaboration — Consult with Engineering and Project Management before modifying drawings; document approved changes. ERP Tracking — Enter job data and ensure accurate labor tracking. Quality & Safety — Monitor work quality, identify issues, maintain clean and hazard‑free work areas, and enforce safety regulations. Team Leadership — Train and mentor staff on equipment use, material handling, and workmanship standards. Perform additional duties as needed to support woodshop operations. Essential Skills Extensive knowledge of cabinetmaking practices, woodworking materials, and machinery. 5+ years leading or managing fabrication projects in a woodworking environment. Proven experience with CNC routers, edge banders, band saws, and related machinery. Strong ability to read and explain blueprints, drawings, and CAD‑based specifications. Understanding of production workflows, job sequencing, and occupational safety. Strong CNC and ERP system proficiency. Leadership, coaching, and communication skills. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Rockdale, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $48.08/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
