Skilled Carpenter Coastal Maine General Contracting - Mount Desert Island, Maine Full-Time | $25.00-$33.00/hr (based on experience) About Us & The Role At Coastal Maine GC, we're a design-build construction company focused on quality work, clear communication, and a strong team culture. We are looking for an experienced Skilled Carpenter to work across residential and light commercial projects from framing through finish. This is a hands-on role focused on day-to-day production work, following direction from the Lead Carpenter, and delivering high-quality craftsmanship in the field. The right person is dependable, skilled with tools, detail-oriented, and focused on improving their craft while working as part of a team.

Communication in everything we do Accountability and ownership Strong effort and attitude Practical problem-solving and creativity Continuous personal growth Respect for people and the work Supporting your team and community What You'll Be Doing Perform skilled carpentry work across framing, rough, and finish phases on residential and light commercial projects Work under the direction of the Lead Carpenter to complete assigned daily tasks Arrive prepared each day with tools, materials, and readiness to complete the day's work safely and efficiently Read and follow blueprints, drawings, and installation details as provided by leadership Measure, cut, assemble, and install materials using proper carpentry methods and tools Ensure work is level, plumb, square, and built to specification using proper layout tools (levels, lasers, strings, etc.) Follow manufacturer installation instructions for all materials and systems Work with a variety of building materials including wood, steel, trim, siding, doors, windows, insulation, drywall, and finishes Maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite at all times, including daily cleanup Protect finished work and materials using proper coverings and jobsite protection methods Communicate issues, mistakes, or questions early so they can be addressed quickly Work efficiently to help keep projects on schedule and within budget Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and jobsite safety procedures What We Offer $25.00-$33.00/hr (based on experience) Year-round, steady work Paid Time Off + Paid Holidays Health, dental, and vision insurance contribution Simple IRA with company match Discretionary Performance based end-of-year bonus Growth opportunities within the company Supportive team environment with strong communication and leadership What We're Looking For 2-5+ years of carpentry experience (framing, finish, or general construction) Strong understanding of basic carpentry tools, materials, and methods Ability to follow direction and work as part of a crew Ability to read basic blueprints and measurements Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship Reliable, consistent, and safety-focused Desire to improve carpentry skills over time Ready to help us build something better? to join a team where leadership, integrity, and results go hand in hand.
