The Lead Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of commercial Overhead doors, dock equipment, and related systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This leadership role involves supervising and supporting a team of technicians, troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and implementing effective solutions in the field. The ideal candidate will also perform routine preventative maintenance, ensure compliance with safety standards, and provide excellent customer service on every job site. We are looking for someone that has good time management skill and is a self-starter. As we work on expanding our Southern California Operations there is potential for the right candidate to move into management.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform installation, troubleshooting, service, and repair of commercial door systems (including sectional, rolling steel, fire doors, high-speed doors), docks, and related hardware Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical door-related issues and determine appropriate repair solutions Serve as the primary on-site contact for customers, addressing questions and communicating job status and solutions Ensure all work meets company standards, safety requirements, and applicable building codes Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and job specifications to guide installations and repairs Safely operate and oversee the use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, scissor lifts, and ladders Perform quality checks on installations and repairs prior to job completion Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and submitted daily, including job workorders with clear notes, photos, part numbers, and timecards through JobFilez Promote a safe work environment and enforce company safety policies and procedures Qualifications Minimum of 2 years experience in commercial garage door or dock equipment required . Mechanical and electrical skills (e.g. works with a varieyt of hand and power tools such as drills, cordless impact drill, angle grinders, hammer drills, and other pwered hand tools), Welding experience is a plus Ability to read, understand drawings, and solid math skills. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs or more. Ability to work at heights and use a ladder, forklifts and scissor lifts with training. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. A valid driver's license is required. Ability to travel out of state from time-to-time.
