Tuesday-Saturday 7am-3pm Lead Cook / Kitchen Coordinator Position Summary Penmac Staffing is hiring a Lead Cook / Kitchen Coordinator to support kitchen operations for a local organization in Ironton. This role is responsible for preparing quality meals, coordinating daily kitchen workflow, supervising kitchen and runner staff, and ensuring food safety standards are consistently met. The Lead Cook / Kitchen Coordinator also assists with menu development, ordering, scheduling, and communication with leadership to support smooth daily operations and special events. Lead Cook / Kitchen Coordinator Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items following standardized recipes and portion guidelines Ensure food quality, presentation, and proper temperature control Supervise kitchen and runner staff, providing clear direction and quality communication Create and maintain employee kitchen schedules Assist with development of new menu items as needed Order food items and supplies while staying within the budget set by leadership Monitor inventory levels and rotate stock using FIFO procedures Pull items from freezer in advance to ensure proper thawing Properly label and date all food containers with item name and date Discard food items according to food safety guidelines, including refrigerated and frozen items Communicate with leadership when large quantities of food must be discarded Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized kitchen throughout the day Complete daily opening and closing checklists Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, utensils, baskets, and equipment Prep food for daily service, events, buffets, and salad bars Refill portion cups, cold table bottles, bread fridge, and restock cold tables and freezers Take out garbage, replace liners, and maintain waste areas Support other staff and assist with additional duties as needed Requirements for the Lead Cook / Kitchen Coordinator Previous cooking or kitchen leadership experience preferred Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling practices Food safety certification (such as ServSafe) is a plus Ability to work independently and supervise others Strong organization, communication, and time management skills Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [insert weight requirement] Must arrive to work clean, presentable, and ready to work Willingness to submit to required pre-employment screenings Work Environment Fast-paced kitchen environment with varying service levels Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and event-based shifts Apply online today or contact Penmac Staffing - Brainerd Branch for more information.
