The Lead Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment across district facilities while providing guidance and support to custodial staff. This position performs a full range of custodial duties including cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining floors, restrooms, furniture, windows, and equipment. Acting as a key point of contact for facility operations, the Lead Custodian helps ensure the building is well-maintained, welcoming, and ready for daily use and special events. DUTIES This not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job.- Cleans and disinfects areas as assigned (i.e. rooms, halls, offices, rest rooms, cafeteria, etc.), vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes, mops and buffs all types of floor surfaces.
- Dust each room on a regular basis.
- Washes windows, whiteboards, walls, doors and baseboards.
- Cleans and polishes furniture, windows and metal work.
- Maintains indoor and outdoor lighting.
- Washes, scrubs and sanitizes restrooms and locker rooms as well as cleans sinks, fixtures, panels and drinking fountains daily.
- Cleans up spills (including bodily fluids) in safe and appropriate manner.
- Responds to special requests for custodial services from staff members with supervisor approval.
- Sets up, takes down and moves tables, chairs, equipment, shelving and partitions for meetings, athletic events and other needs as assigned.
- Locks doors and windows, turns off lights and secures buildings and property as assigned.
- Makes minor repairs (i.e., sinks, tiles, lockers, change light bulbs, etc.).
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Works collaboratively with District and building administrators as well as other staff to provide reliable service to customers.
- Keeps appropriate confidentiality as required by law regarding student and staff information.

- Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.
- Professionally represents the school and the district in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
- Responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.
- Make minor maintenance repairs to furniture and other building fixtures.
- May perform routine grounds keeping duties and such other duties as may be assigned within the usual scope of this employment.
- May participate in the training of custodial staff.
- Recognize the need for and initiate maintenance service requests.
- Manage the building and maintain inventory; request cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Training that increases ability to perform duties of the position preferred.
