Substantially Separate Special Education Teacher ED/EDB:
Gateway Regional School Begins August 25, 2026 Gateway Regional School is seeking a Substantially Separate Special Education Teacher (Learning Lab) (2 positions)
Qualified Candidates Must:
  • Have a MA License for teaching students with Moderate or Severe Disabilities (or licensed by August 25, 2026) Required
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree
  • Have 3+ years of experience in a behavior program or similar program
  • Experience teaching in a middle school or high school setting (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold an unwavering belief that every student can grow and succeed.
Professional Responsibilities Include:
  • Plan, develop, and deliver differentiated instruction in math, science, social studies, ELA, and social skills, tailored to the needs of students in a behavior-focused program.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, mentorship, and professional development for program paraprofessionals, modeling effective instructional and behavioral strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the school SAC, administration, nurse, BCBA, therapists, and other specialists to develop, write, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs), including tracking data, analyzing trends, and adjusting strategies to promote positive student outcomes.
  • Support the social-emotional development of students through coaching, modeling, and direct instruction in coping skills, conflict resolution, and self-regulation.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, positive behavior, and student engagement.
  • Maintain regular, consistent, and positive communication with families, colleagues, and service providers to ensure a cohesive and supportive approach to student development.
  • Facilitate collaboration between the behavior program and general education teachers to support inclusion opportunities and classroom success.
  • Lead and participate in professional learning communities (PLCs), staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings to continuously improve instructional practices and program effectiveness.
  • Observe, assess, and document student progress in academic and behavioral goals, using data to inform instructional and intervention decisions.
  • Advocate for students' needs within the school community, ensuring equitable access to learning and resources.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, committees, and events to support a positive school culture.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as requested by administration to support the overall functioning and success of the behavior program.
Rate of pay: $52,803-$91,482, dependent upon education and experience.
