Medical Assistant Job Duties:

Verifies patient information by interviewing patient during intake; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure and temperature; reporting patient history summary in EMR. Saves Podiatrist time by helping with office procedures such as completing x-rays, setting up the proper tools for visit/procedure, removing casts and much more. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnosis coding and procedure coding during dictation. Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center or hospital; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission, consent forms retrieving prior authorizations and referrals in advance of surgery, collecting all balances before surgery. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations and the company protocols. Keeps supplies ready by having inventory in stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; calling for repairs. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications requesting additional training. Serves and protects the podiatry practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures. Requirements To complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational and planning skills Proficiency in excel and word (MS) Athena EMR experience a plus but not mandatory
