Job Description
Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School is a 7-12 school with approximately 550 students from four vibrant Addison County towns. We believe that all students should have access to high-quality personalized, proficiency-based learning opportunities and authentic assessment practices. We seek to support all students to thrive at Mt. Abraham so that they are prepared for meaningful engagement in college, career, and community upon graduation. We are seeking a dynamic and collaborative Library Media Specialist to support student learning and instructional excellence. This position plays a key role in helping students and educators meet national, state, and local curriculum standards, including Vermonts Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities. The successful candidate will lead the development of a vibrant, inclusive, and technology-rich library program that serves as a 21st-century learning hub.
The Library Media Specialist partners with teachers to design and deliver instruction that strengthens research, information literacy, and digital citizenship skills. This role provides access to a diverse and relevant collection of print and digital resources aligned with curriculum and student interests, while also integrating technology tools such as research databases, multimedia creation platforms, and presentation software into teaching and learning. The specialist instructs students in how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively and responsibly, and maintains a library collection that is current, accessible, and responsive to instructional needs. In addition, the role fosters a culture of reading, inquiry, and lifelong learning across the school community and manages the day-to-day operations of the library media center, including scheduling, circulation, and organization.
Qualified candidates will hold a valid Vermont educator license with an endorsement in Library Media Specialist (or be eligible for licensure), demonstrate strong knowledge of information literacy, instructional technology, and best practices in library science, and have experience collaborating with educators to support curriculum and student learning. The ideal candidate will also bring strong communication and organizational skills and a commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging learning environment for all students.
Salary is commensurate with experience and per the Mount Abraham Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package to our employees, including health, dental, and life & long term disability insurance; retirement savings plans; paid time off; and professional development opportunities. Our benefits package is designed to support our employees' health, well-being, and professional growth, and we are committed to providing a positive and supportive work environment for all members of our team.
