Job Description

Description Dietitian/Nutritionist (ND) Job Duties
A. QUALIFICATIONS 1
. Dietitian must maintain a current Florida Nutritional Dietician (ND) License and an active registration with the Commission on Dietitian Registration, both of which must be on file with the HR Department at all times. 2 . Dietitian must have knowledge of the nutritional needs of clients with behavioral health and substance abuse issues. 3 . Dietitian will stay current in the development of food items and equipment.
B. RELATIONSHIPS 1
. Dietitian will report directly to the Quality Assurance Director of the Agency and will provide consultations to the Food Service Coordinator, Medical Director, ASU, SRT, DETOX, TGH, CCSU and program managers and others as may be necessary.
C. SCOPE OF WORK 1
. Dietitian is responsible for consulting, advising and giving instructions to the Food Service Coordinator, dietary staff, Medical Director and Program Managers to ensure that quality Food Services are consistently being provided 2 . After each visit, Dietician will complete an assessment on the Quality Assurance Report form in the areas of patron satisfaction, quality food production, patient nutritional status, and safety and sanitation practices, then will review findings and recommendations with the Quality Assurance Director. D. Functions 1 . In conjunction with the Food Service Coordinator, monitors the activities of the Food Service components to ensure the nutritional needs of clients are met in accordance with physicians' orders, the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Organization and Florida Administrative Codes. 2 . Assists in the annual updates of departmental policies and procedures 3 . Participates in the planning and conducting of in-service programs and staff development for Agency personnel and clients 4 . Assists in the planning of menus and therapeutic diets and approves all menus at least annually. Periodically reviews menus and replaces those items that are deemed unpopular. 5 . Monitors that foods are prepared and served with regard to nutritive value, flavor, appearance and appropriate temperatures. 6 . Consults with Program Managers of the
ASU, SRT, TGH, CCSU, DETOX
Units and Medical Director to discuss concerns specific to their departments and/or client's nutritional needs, then documents those concerns, along with recommendations on Page 5 of the QA Report, then submits the report, in its entirety to the Quality Assurance Director. A minimum of one Inpatient unit shall be inspected quarterly with all Units inspected at a minimum of annually. 7 . In addition to completing the QA Report, maintains accurate and current records of dates, times, and length of visits and work performed in the facility, as required by the FL Department of Health, the Agency for Healthcare Administration, the Department of Children and Families, and by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) 8 . Performs all other responsibilities required of a qualified consultant dietitian as set forth in any other federal or state laws, statues, or regulations, including, but not limited to 65D-30, 65E-12, F.S. 397, F.S 394, as enacted or may be enacted or amended. 9 . Will be available to the Agency during any and all state and federal inspections and accreditation, as requested by the Agency.
E. FREQUENCY OF VISITS 1
. Dietitian will be available for a minimum of 8 hours per QUARTER and will be available for telephone consultation with the Food Service Coordinator or QA Director as needed.
