Licensed Practical Nurse
- Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse, or LPN, works under the supervision of the RN Team Leader. Functions within the team to provide total patient care. Assists the registered nurse in planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care of assigned patients. Performs clinical procedures permitted within the scope of practice, and in accordance with the policies of the Nursing Department. Promotes cooperation, a positive attitude and creates a safe environment for both patients and staff. Responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety.RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs Phlebotomy, EKG's, and medication administration including IM and IV Hydration, IVIG, Iron and blood products as ordered. Obtains vital signs and records medical history and treatments in EMR. Assist with gynecologic exams, biopsies, interventions and sterilization of instruments including setting up sterile fields for procedures.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
NYS Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. BLS provider by the American Heart Association required. Proficiency in Phlebotomy and 12 lead EKG, with a minimum of one-year experience required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in Cerner Power chart preferred. As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.Special Notes :

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Employee Health Services- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
