Job Description

Category Schools - LPN Nurse Job Type Contract Step into a supportive and impactful role as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, serving students in an educational setting near Hayward, CA. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a difference in the lives of medically fragile students through a dynamic, itinerant assignment. With a focus on individualized support, you'll work 18.5-22.5 hours weekly during the Extended School Year (ESY) program, rotating among several campuses and providing 1:1 care.
Required Skills & Experience:
Active LPN or LVN license with proven clinical skills Experience supporting children and young adults (ages 4-22), including those with ASD and developmental delays Competency with medical procedures such as gastronomy tube care, bladder catheterization, diabetes management (CGM, insulin, carb counting), managing hypo/hyperglycemia, seizure recognition/response, and administration of medications like EpiPens and Benadryl Ability to train staff in medical protocols and collaborate with educators and parents Strong communication skills; bilingual Spanish skills are advantageous Adaptability to rotate between campuses and adjust to students' evolving needs
Your Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive 1:1 medical care for students with complex health needs Conduct staff training on individualized seizure and health plans Serve as a point of contact for urgent health concerns on campus Build rapport with students and families to ensure effective, compassionate care Maintain accurate records and stay updated on each student's medical status This role offers the satisfaction of supporting both students and educators while gaining diverse experience with a variety of medical conditions.
