Job Description

UPMC Muncy Place is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work a 36‑hour work week on the 7PM-7AM shift. Every other weekend and holiday rotation required. In this role, the LPN provides resident care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and within the scope of the Pennsylvania Practical Nurse Act. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, the LPN ensures that each resident's physical, medical, and psychosocial needs are met. UPMC offers a robust LPN Career Ladder, with final placement determined by education, experience, and manager discretion at the time of offer. A generous sign‑on bonus is also available—$10,000 for LPNs with less than one year of experience and $12,500 for those with more than one year. Establishes appropriate and effective communication strategies and communicates clearly with all members of the healthcare team. Demonstrates awareness of cultural diversity, horizontal violence, and impairment in the health professions. Communicates effectively with residents and families regarding care concerns, providing instruction and demonstrations as needed. Participates in resident care conferences and discusses resident or family concerns with the RN to ensure appropriate follow‑up. Establishes professional and respectful interpersonal relationships. Complies with all safety policies and procedures, including Infection Control Precautions (listed twice in the original, preserved here as one consolidated duty). Cares for residents, staff, and self by supporting a culture of safety, recognizing hazards, and reporting/investigating incidents in accordance with policies, regulations, and prudent practices. Complies with established medication‑use policies and strictly adheres to all policies related to resident care and facility information. Before performing new or challenging skills, requests assistance and reviews relevant policies and procedures. Observes and records residents' symptoms, conditions, and reactions to medications/treatments, reporting results to the RN. Assists the RN and interdisciplinary team in evaluating, planning, and implementing care plans. Provides direct resident care including administering injections, taking vital signs, performing basic diagnostic tests, observing residents, dressing wounds, administering medication, and providing IV therapy as permitted by the practice act and policy. Performs assigned work in a timely and productive manner and constructively receives feedback and direction. Participates in self‑review as requested by the Unit Manager. Takes action to improve knowledge, skills, and performance based on feedback or self‑identified development needs. Identifies and communicates learning needs to the Unit Manager/Nursing Leader. Requests assistance with planning and prioritizing activities as needed and assumes responsibility for assignments while viewing problems as challenges. Suggests and supports changes within the department. Contributes to unit activities such as responding to call lights/telephones, passing meal trays, and transporting residents. Oversees care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants to ensure adequate and timely resident care.
