Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for a variety of patient care, office and laboratory duties, and assisting the Oral Surgeon with exams and treating of patients in the office setting. Patient blood sugar checks. Phlebotomy. Make patient as comfortable as possible in the dental chair. Prepare them for treatment, and obtain their records. Collecting and recording patient's health histories and vital signs. Update and maintain patient electronic charts regarding; allergies, medications, and diagnosis's. Patient management during dental and in office procedures. Assist surgeon with local and IV sedation procedures by; preparing all necessary equipment, medications, and prepping the patient - including but not limited to IV start, monitor, and positioning.

Business Office Procedures Administer medications under the providers' orders, except I.V. medications Document and record medications and narcotics in a way consistent with the policy and procedures. Implement provider's orders in a safe and accurate manner.

Ensure friendly interaction and communication between patients and coworkers. Assist with appointment scheduling and confirmation. Handle multiline phone system. Management of patient records. Management of business records. Preparation of written business communication. Skills Practical experience and training in clinical nursing practices Proficient with IV placement Must be able to demonstrate the following skills: Team building Decision making skills Analytical and problem solving skills Effective verbal and listening skills Computer skills Stress management skills Time management skills Good manual dexterity

CERTIFICATION

Active Texas license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse IV Certification Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS) Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
