Line Attendant - 2nd Shift Job Description The Line Attendant supports cheese production by loading cheese blocks onto conveyors, feeding them into shredding machines, and packaging shredded cheese into properly labeled boxes. This role requires consistent lifting, attention to detail, and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a refrigerated, smoke-free production environment on the 2nd shift. Responsibilities Load cheese blocks onto conveyors and feed them into the cheese shredding machine in a safe and efficient manner. Assist machine operators by monitoring product flow and ensuring cheese moves smoothly through the shredding process. Use a sharp cutting tool to remove plastic from cheese blocks and verify all packaging is removed before shredding. Perform visual inspections of cheese to ensure there is no plastic or foreign material attached prior to placing it into the shredder. Scoop shredded cheese into film packaging, ensuring correct fill levels and consistent portions. Bag shredded cheese into proper portions once shredded, following production and quality specifications. Place packaged cheese into boxes, ensuring they are filled correctly and securely. Lift filled boxes weighing up to 40 lbs consistently throughout the shift and stack them onto pallets in an organized manner. Attach labels to packaged products and boxes as required, ensuring accuracy and legibility. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), including wearing required personal protective equipment such as hair nets, beard nets, smocks, and steel-toe footwear. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly addressing spills or debris. Comply with all plant rules, including no smoking on campus and restrictions on jewelry, artificial nails, and false eyelashes. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to support smooth production flow and address any issues that arise. Participate in overtime shifts, typically on Friday evenings, as scheduled with advance notice. Essential Skills At least 1 year of consistent work experience in a labor-intensive role such as packaging, production, or warehouse work involving moving, loading, or unloading boxes. Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and productivity standards. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs consistently throughout the workday. Experience in general production, general labor, or packaging environments. Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or willingness to learn and follow GMP requirements. Ability to work a fixed 2nd shift schedule from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Strong attendance and reliability with a stable work history in prior roles. Attention to detail for visual inspection of products and accurate labeling. Comfort working in a refrigerated environment around 55 degrees. Ability to safely use hand tools, including sharp cutting tools, in a production setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience working in a GMP-regulated facility is preferred. Background in food production, packaging, or similar manufacturing environments is an advantage. Ability to follow strict dress code and PPE requirements, including hair nets, beard nets, smocks, and steel-toe footwear. Capability to adapt to overtime needs, typically on Friday evenings, with advance notice. Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined safety and quality standards. Work Environment This role is based at a cheese production facility in Franklin operating as a GMP-compliant plant. The regular schedule is 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on the 2nd shift. A shift premium applies for hours worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m, and overtime is typically scheduled on Friday nights with about one week of advance notice, usually every other week. The production area is maintained at approximately 55 degrees, providing a cool but not extremely cold environment. The facility enforces strict GMP and safety standards, including the required use of personal protective equipment such as hair nets, beard nets, smocks, and steel-toe footwear; all PPE except steel-toe shoes is provided. The dress code prohibits jewelry, fake or long nails, and fake eyelashes to maintain product safety. The campus is entirely smoke-free, supporting a health- and wellness-focused workplace. Work involves standing for most of the shift, repetitive motions, consistent lifting of up to 40 lbs, and close collaboration with machine operators and other production team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Franklin, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
