Job Description
Job Summary The Red Stag is a brand new family-owned community tavern located in the heart of downtown Oyster Bay, with an anticipated opening of June 2, 2026. With over 5 new restaurants in the last year alone, Oyster Bay has become an increasingly popular destination for locals and surrounding villages. You'll be instrumental in preparing fresh ingredients, assembling delicious dishes, and ensuring every plate meets our high standards. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity. Duties Prepare ingredients and assist in assembling dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications Handle food preparation tasks such as chopping, slicing, marinating, and portioning ingredients with precision and safety Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to food safety standards at all times Support the kitchen team during busy service hours by efficiently managing meal assembly and plating Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure the safety and quality of all served items Assist with menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods Contribute to catering events or special meal services as needed, ensuring timely delivery of quality food products Experience Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred Familiarity with dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, demonstrating knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions Strong knife skills and proficiency in basic cooking techniques are essential for success in this role Experience with food safety protocols, including proper storage and sanitation practices Knowledge of food industry standards related to meal preparation, food handling, and serving processes Prior kitchen or culinary experience that showcases your ability to work efficiently under pressure and collaborate effectively with team members Embark on a rewarding culinary journey where your skills make a difference!
