Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Load Planner/Driver Manager to join our team at Payne Trucking. In this dual role, you will be responsible for efficiently planning and optimizing trucking operations while also managing a team of drivers to ensure safe, compliant, and on-time deliveries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with drivers.Key Responsibilities:
As aLoad Planner:
Route Planning and Optimization:
Plan efficient routes for drivers to maximize truck utilization and minimize transportation costs. Continuously optimize routes to improve fuel efficiency and delivery times.Load Coordination:
Coordinate the scheduling and loading of shipments, ensuring proper sequencing and compliance with customer requirements. Collaborate with dispatchers and warehouse personnel to streamline the loading process.Customer Communication:
Maintain regular communication with customers to confirm delivery schedules, address concerns, and provide timely updates on shipment status. Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally.Compliance and Regulations:
Ensure that all transportation activities comply with federal and state regulations, including HOS (Hours of Service), safety guidelines, and company policies. Monitor and enforce compliance with driver and vehicle requirements.Data Analysis:
Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities. Generate reports and provide recommendations to optimize operations. As aDriver Manager:
Driver Assignments:
Assign and schedule drivers for shifts and deliveries, taking into account driver availability and customer requirements. Ensure that drivers are adequately trained and prepared for their assignments.Performance Monitoring:
Monitor driver performance, including compliance with safety regulations, delivery schedules, and customer service standards. Conduct driver evaluations and provide feedback for improvement.Driver Support:
Act as a point of contact for drivers, addressing their concerns, providing guidance, and resolving issues. Support drivers in complying with company policies and safety protocols.Emergency Response:
Develop and communicate contingency plans to drivers and respond to unforeseen issues or delays to minimize disruptions in the supply chain.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. Proven experience in transportation planning, logistics, and driver management. Strong understanding of routing, scheduling, and transportation regulations. Proficiency in transportation management software and route optimization tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective driver management and customer interaction. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Team player with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders. Knowledge of the trucking industry and supply chain logistics.Benefits:
