Zayo serves wireless and wireline carriers, media, tech, content, finance, healthcare and other large enterprises. Zayo is seeking a Locating Desk Technician I to assist in preventing damage to Zayo's Network protection and underground fiber lines. Our Locating Desk Technician I is responsible for the internal screening of state 811 dig tickets and provides customer support for 811 dig tickets via phone and email correspondence. •Please note: This team provides 24/7 operational support. Candidates must be willing to work any shift based on Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Responsibilities:
Receive emergency and non-emergency calls & emails while recording important information. Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions. Prioritize calls according to urgency and importance. Provide field units with information about tickets from 811. Handle all interactions professionally. Enter data into the computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities, and other information. Review work orders against maps and internal metrics to determine Locator needs. Dispatch Fiber Locators based on business needs. Coordinate with fiber location companies and other utilities. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience reading and comprehending maps required. Reading comprehension skills required. Must be willing and flexible to work any shift based on Eastern Standard Time (EST) as this team provides 24/7 operational support. Experience in telecommunications, dispatch, or utility locating, preferred. Customer service experience. Proficient in Microsoft office applications. Excellent typing and data entry skills. Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to use sound judgment and critical thinking to prioritize multiple goals. Ability to use office equipment for extended periods. Impeccable customer service skills. Ability to read and comprehend maps. Geographical knowledge of your assigned region. Outstanding written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills to interface with subordinates, peers, customers, and vendors. Estimated base pay range $15.33 - $20.00 USD / hour The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan. Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
