JOB GOALS
To inspire students by demonstrating belief in their students' abilities and by providing the support students need to meet challenging academic demands. Supports students in acquiring scientific methods of problem solving. Develops talents of students in scientific fields.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides differentiated learning experiences that enable all students to make progress. 2. Designs units of instructions that include the criteria established by the district. 3. Develops well-structured lessons with challenging, measurable objectives and appropriate student engagement strategies. 4. Designs and administers a variety of informal and formal assessments to measure each student's growth toward local/state standards. 5. Organizes and analyzes results from a variety of assessments to determine progress, adjust practice and implement appropriate interventions. 6. Provides regular, specific feedback to students and families on student performance, including how it can be improved. 7. Welcomes and encourages every family to become active participants in the classroom and school community. 8. Uses two-way communication with families about student performance and responds promptly and carefully to communication from families. 9. Collaborates with colleagues to support improved student learning. 10. Clearly communicates and consistently enforces specific standards for student work, effort and behavior. 11. Uses rituals and routines that create and maintain a safe learning environment. 12. Consistently uses practices that are likely to enable students to demonstrate respect for differences. 13. Regularly reflects on his/her practice, individually and with colleagues. 14. Selects and requests books, supplies, and technologies to support instruction. 15. Consistently seeks outs and applies ideas for improving practice from supervisors, colleagues, and professional developmental activities to gain expertise. 16. Individually and with colleagues develops strategies develops strategies that contribute to the learning and productive behavior of all students. 17. Plans a science program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions and student experiments; organizes laboratory activities and applied learning activities for optimal learning. 18. Demonstrates math/science concepts by use of scientific apparatus, experiments, and standard or teacher prepared instructional aides. 19. Provides individual, group and cooperative instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students and to accommodate circumstances where a variety of projects and experiments are being worked on simultaneously. 20. Instructs students in proper use, care, and safe handling of chemicals, science equipment and plant and animal life. 21. Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools. 22. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for productive learning environment during class sessions, laboratory sessions and field trips. 23. Provides science displays and programs for the school and community and when sponsoring science events. 24. Performs reasonable professional tasks or duties as may be requested by the Principal.
