The Charge Nurse will play a critical role in overseeing patient care, managing nursing staff, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to patient safety, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in long-term care and be knowledgeable about various medical software systems. Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care. Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols. Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure patient confidentiality. Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infections. Provide specialized care for patients with dementia or other chronic conditions. Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. Train and mentor new nursing staff on best practices and facility policies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care services. Requirements Valid nursing license (LPN) in the state of practice. Proven experience in patient care, particularly in long-term care settings. Knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices and coding procedures. Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as eClinicalWorks or Athenahealth is preferred. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead a team effectively. Ability to perform tasks requiring physical stamina, including standing for extended periods and lifting patients as needed. Experience in dementia care is a plus.
