Pay:

$21-$25/hour Job Description This role operates saws to cut metal bars and structural material according to work orders in a heavy metals manufacturing environment. The Machine Operator ensures accurate, high-quality cuts, performs in‑process and final inspections, and handles material using a forklift while following strict safety procedures and production standards. Responsibilities Operate manual and automated saws to cut metal bar, tube, plate, and structural material according to work orders and production schedules. Set up saws by adjusting feeds and speeds and selecting appropriate blades based on material type and job specifications. Monitor cutting operations continuously to ensure dimensional accuracy, proper surface finish, and compliance with tolerances. Perform in‑process and final inspections using go/no‑go gages, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify product quality. Bundle cut material securely and place it on pallets using a forklift in preparation for storage or shipment. Build pallets when needed to safely support and transport metal products. Perform routine maintenance on saws and related equipment, including blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning, to minimize downtime. Additional Skills & Qualifications Saw operating experience in metals manufacturing or a similar industrial environment. Experience in metals manufacturing, including working with cast iron or steel products. General production experience in an industrial or manufacturing facility. Familiarity with material handling practices and safe palletizing of heavy products. Comfort working with hand tools and basic shop equipment. Willingness to learn new skills and cross‑train on additional processes or machines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodstock, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
