Machine Operator - Manual Lathe

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Machine Operator specializing in Manual Lathe operations to join our dynamic manufacturing team. Duties Set up and operate manual lathe machines, ensuring accurate machining of metal or plastic parts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawings Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and specifications to produce precise components Utilize precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and tolerances throughout the machining process Adjust machine settings and tooling based on measurements and quality requirements to optimize performance and accuracy Perform routine maintenance on manual lathes, including cleaning, lubrication, and troubleshooting mechanical issues Read blueprints and technical documents to ensure proper machining sequences and specifications are followed Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to implement improvements in tooling, processes, or setups for enhanced efficiency Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience operating manual lathes and related machining equipment Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and interpreting technical drawings Familiarity with CNC programming concepts such as CNC lathe operation, Fanuc controls, CAM programming, and CNC milling machines is a plus Ability to use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) accurately Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as plastics injection molding, welding, electrical discharge machining (EDM), and assembly techniques Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, feeds, speeds, and tolerances Experience working with hand tools, power tools, tooling setups, and basic machine troubleshooting Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficient workflows Ability to operate forklifts safely when required for material handling Familiarity with safety protocols related to machining environments Join our team if you're passionate about precision manufacturing!
