Machine Operator:

People assigned to this classification could be assigned to several jobs; such as Shearing metal; running Brake Presses, Amadas, or Whitneys; or other miscellaneous jobs in the Department. Those working on these jobs are responsible for wearing required safety equipment for the job to efficiently and safely perform assigned operations consistent with product quality standards and specifications. For most jobs this requires using both hands and arms to operate powered trucks, hoists, hand and power tools, equipment and machines as required by the assigned job. The correct use of all measuring tools, equipment and gauges is a required function of the job. Walking, standing, reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing, stooping, bending, squatting and lifting. People assigned to this classification are responsible to perform other assigned work in the Department and Plant. Job Performance Tasks for

Machinist :

Read part drawing and other attached information to determine the material, jigs, dies, fixtures, tools, programs and other equipment required to set-up and run the assigned job. Use trucks, pallet jack, etc. If necessary to bring material, equipment, products, etc. to work station. Carry items weighing up to 75 lbs. Move material into the proper position, secure, operate machine, remove machined part to designated location, check to assure proper quality per specifications. Remove scrap to proper location or bins. Remove completed products, parts, equipment, tools, etc. to designated storage and operation areas by carrying and/or using lifts or other means. Clean up work area. Use grinders, air sanders, and other hand tools to finish product to required quality and specifications for the job.
