This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience working with advanced machining equipment, including CNC lathes and milling machines. Under expert supervision, you'll learn to interpret technical drawings, operate precision measuring instruments, and develop essential skills in manufacturing processes. This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to gain practical knowledge in machining, CAD/CAM programming, and mechanical fabrication within a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Responsibilities Assist in setting up and operating CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, including Fanuc controls Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate part production Learn to program CNC machines using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software and basic CNC programming techniques Use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions Support tooling setup, maintenance, and adjustments to optimize machining processes Participate in quality control inspections utilizing precision measuring tools and ensure parts meet specifications Follow safety protocols diligently while handling hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools Collaborate with team members on assembly tasks involving plastics injection molding or other fabrication processes Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to lean manufacturing principles Experience Basic understanding of mechanical concepts and manufacturing processes gained through coursework or prior experience preferred Familiarity with blueprint reading and technical drawings is advantageous Exposure to CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs is a plus Knowledge of CNC operations or programming is beneficial but not required; training will be provided Ability to perform basic math calculations accurately for measurements and tolerances Experience with the use of precision measurement instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines is desirable Willingness to learn new skills related to CNC programming, electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding, and plastics injection molding Demonstrated interest in manufacturing or machining careers with a proactive attitude toward learning This paid apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the foundational skills needed for a successful career in machining.
