Position Summary Unical Aviation is seeking a skilled Aircraft Mechanic - Structures to join our FAA Part 145 Repair Station team in Glendale, Arizona. This position is responsible for the inspection, repair, overhaul, fabrication, assembly, and testing of aircraft components and structural assemblies in accordance with FAA regulations, repair station procedures, OEM technical data, and quality standards. Working with limited supervision, the Aircraft Mechanic will utilize sheet metal repair techniques, structural fabrication methods, precision measurement tools, and engineering documentation to restore aircraft components to airworthy condition. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, experience with aircraft structural repairs, and a commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, overhaul, assembly, and testing of aircraft components received by the repair station. Conduct sheet metal and structural repairs on aircraft components utilizing approved repair station procedures and technical data. Inspect structural components, assemblies, and airframe-related parts for damage, wear, corrosion, and conformity to specifications. Fabricate and assemble structural parts using hand tools, power tools, rivet guns, drill motors, torque wrenches, soldering equipment, pneumatic grinders, and other specialized shop equipment. Interpret and utilize technical publications including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), engineering drawings, schematics, service bulletins, and CAD models. Utilize precision measuring and inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, depth gauges, ammeters, ohmmeters, and other inspection tooling. Troubleshoot mechanical and structural discrepancies using root cause analysis and approved engineering methods. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, repair station procedures, AS9100 quality standards, and company safety requirements. Complete maintenance and inspection documentation accurately and in accordance with federal regulations and repair station standards. Operate machinery and equipment safely while following established shop practices and safety procedures. Read, understand, and adhere to Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements. Provide technical assistance and mentorship to Mechanic Assistants and other team members as assigned. Properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, composite or steel-toed footwear, face shields, respirators, and safety harnesses when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Working knowledge of sheet metal and structural repair techniques and processes. Experience interpreting aircraft technical data including CMMs, SRMs, engineering drawings, schematics, and repair instructions. Strong mechanical knowledge of aircraft structures, airframes, component repairs, or comparable mechanical systems. Proficiency using inspection and measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, depth gauges, and height gauges. Experience using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, rivet guns, drills, pneumatic tools, and fabrication equipment. Knowledge of electrical systems integrated within aircraft structural components. Understanding of FAA regulations and repair station maintenance requirements. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must provide own hand tools. Must successfully pass FAA-required drug, alcohol, background, and employment screening requirements. Must be authorized to work in the United States; U.S. Person or Lawful Permanent Resident preferred due to ITAR requirements. Preferred Qualifications 4-7+ years of aircraft maintenance, component repair, overhaul, sheet metal, or structural repair experience. Experience working in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment. FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred. Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards and aerospace manufacturing environments. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Work performed primarily within a warehouse, machine shop, and aircraft component repair environment. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling. Exposure to machinery, aviation components, chemicals, solvents, and cleaning agents. Occasional exposure to elevated noise levels. Must be able to wear required PPE as necessary. Travel No travel required. Language Requirements Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
