Job Description
About the Position We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and safety-focused FAA-certified A&P Aircraft Mechanic who also holds at least an FAA Private Pilot Certificate. This is a hands-on aviation position for someone who understands aircraft from both sides — as a mechanic and as a pilot. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, comfortable troubleshooting aircraft independently, and understands how maintenance issues affect pilots and day-to-day flight operations. Minimum Requirements Current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate FAA Private Pilot Certificate or higher Valid driver's license Strong understanding of general aviation aircraft systems Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical discrepancies Ability to properly document maintenance performed Strong understanding of FAA maintenance regulations and aircraft maintenance records Safety-first mindset Reliable, professional, and organized Legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred Qualifications Instrument Rating Commercial Pilot Certificate Inspection Authorization (IA) Experience maintaining piston single-engine aircraft Experience with Continental and/or Lycoming engines Experience with modern Garmin avionics and technically advanced aircraft Experience performing 50-hour and 100-hour inspections Experience coordinating annual inspections Aircraft troubleshooting and AOG experience Familiarity with Bay Area general aviation operations Responsibilities Perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance Diagnose aircraft mechanical and electrical discrepancies Perform preventative and corrective maintenance Conduct required inspections within the privileges of the mechanic's certificates Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance records and logbook entries Review aircraft discrepancies reported by pilots Coordinate aircraft downtime and return-to-service activities Assist with aircraft repositioning when appropriately qualified, current, authorized, and insured Monitor aircraft condition and identify developing maintenance issues Coordinate parts and maintenance requirements Maintain an organized and professional maintenance environment Work closely with pilots and management to maximize aircraft safety and availability Why We Require a Pilot Certificate We specifically want an A&P who is also a pilot. Understanding an aircraft from the cockpit provides an additional operational perspective when diagnosing discrepancies, communicating with pilots, evaluating aircraft behavior, and managing a working fleet. The Private Pilot Certificate is therefore a requirement for this position, not simply a preference. What We're Looking For We value quality and judgment over simply turning wrenches quickly. We want someone who takes ownership of the aircraft they maintain, communicates problems clearly, documents work correctly, and never compromises safety to get an aircraft back into service.
