As Fort Wayne's original municipal airport, Smith Field stands as one of America's oldest surviving aviation sites. Building upon the legacy of Smith Field Air Services, Chuck and Lisa developed Sweet Aviation and quickly grew its footprint to include a state-of-the-art fleet of aircraft, which are now positioned at both Smith Field and DeKalb County Airport. In addition to its flight school, Sweet Aviation also offers its own charter service and aircraft maintenance operation. Helicopter A&P Mechanic Sweet Helicopters, located in Fort Wayne, IN, is the region's premier charter service for business or pleasure travel. We are currently seeking an experienced Helicopter A&P Mechanic to join our team for a full time, direct-hire position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs preventive, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs and modifications to airframes and engines in accordance with manufacturers' maintenance procedures, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Performs duties in a timely manner with a high standard of safety and quality
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems and avionics
  • Works well with a small team and is able to work independently without immediate supervision
  • Maintains a clean work environment and professional appearance
  • Occasional travel required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be FAA Airframe and Powerplant certified
  • Must possess a basic set of mechanic's hand tools in both metric and standard (fractional) sizes
  • Ability to operate a computer proficiently and adapt to various software platforms
  • Ability to be a team player with a professional attitude
  • Strong work ethic, communication skills, and integrity
  • Must be physically able to perform the following, unaided:
  • Bend over and pick up items from the floor
  • Raise arms above the head
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Bending, kneeling, squatting, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Climb and descend a 10' ladder
  • See and hear safety hazards and warnings
  • vision correctable to 20/20
  • Frequently use hands, wrists, shoulders, and back as necessary
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Must be able to pass DOT regulated pre-employment drug screening and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing program
  • Valid state driver's license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years recent turbine helicopter maintenance experience
  • Experience on Airbus Helicopters EC130 / AS350 and Leonardo Helicopters AW109SP
  • Experience performing track and balance
