Job Description

Aircraft MD | Midwest-Based | Travel Required $35/hr+ Licensed A&P | $25/hr+ Unlicensed | Rates Negotiable We're Building Something Different. Aircraft MD is looking for an ambitious aircraft mechanic to join us as one of the first members of our maintenance team. This isn't a traditional hangar job. We load up the ground rig or service aircraft with the tools, equipment, and parts we need, then go to the airplane. One day that might mean working on a piston twin at a small Midwest airport. The next might mean a turbine aircraft on a remote strip, an agricultural aircraft in the middle of a field, or a trip somewhere you probably wouldn't have gone otherwise. Most of our work is throughout the Midwest, with occasional overnight trips and travel outside the region. We're building a mobile aircraft maintenance operation from the ground up, and the people who join early will have an opportunity to grow with it. What You'll Do You'll work alongside our team performing maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of piston and turbine aircraft.
The work will include:
Scheduled aircraft maintenance Troubleshooting and corrective maintenance 100-hour inspections Agricultural aviation maintenance and inspections AOG support Piston single and twin maintenance Turbine single and twin maintenance Pre-purchase inspection support Ferry and repositioning support Field maintenance at airports, private strips, and remote locations Other maintenance and operational support as the situation requires Every job is a little different. That's part of the point. This Is Mobile Maintenance There won't always be a climate-controlled hangar waiting for you. You may be working on a ramp in the Midwest, in a hangar you've never seen before, or alongside an aircraft sitting on a private strip. We provide the tooling, equipment, ground rigs, service aircraft, and other resources needed for the job. Your job is to show up prepared, think clearly, work safely, and get the job done. Who We're Looking For A&P or A&P IA preferred. Not licensed? That's okay. We'll train the right person. What we're really looking for is someone who is ambitious, mechanically minded, dependable, and wants to become very good at this business. If you've spent ten years turning wrenches and want to coast into retirement, this probably isn't the right fit. If you've never touched an airplane but you're the kind of person who learns fast, takes pride in your work, and wants to build a career around aviation, we want to hear from you. We would take the hungry person with the right mindset over the experienced person who has stopped caring. Pilot's License Highly Preferred An A&P who can also fly is extremely valuable to this operation. A pilot's license is highly preferred , especially for candidates who want to become involved in ferry flights, test flights, aircraft recovery, and other operational aspects of the business. You don't need to be a professional pilot. We simply value mechanics who understand the aircraft from both sides of the windshield. What You Bring A&P or A&P IA preferred Pilot's license highly preferred Strong mechanical aptitude Willingness to learn Ability to troubleshoot rather than simply replace parts Good judgment in unfamiliar situations Willingness to travel Ability to work in varying weather and field conditions Reliable transportation to the shop / meeting location A clean, professional approach to working around aircraft and customers Most importantly: the right attitude What We Provide You don't need to show up with a $20,000 toolbox. We provide the tooling and equipment. We'll also provide the mobile equipment, ground rigs, and service aircraft required to get the job done. You bring yourself, your work ethic, and your willingness to learn.
Compensation Licensed A&P:
Starting at $35/hour
Unlicensed:
Starting at $25/hour Rates are negotiable based on experience, qualifications, and what you bring to the operation. There is room to grow as the company grows. Why Join Early? Aircraft MD is intentionally starting small. That means you won't be employee number 147 wearing a uniform and turning the same wrench on the same airplane every day. You'll be one of the people helping build the operation. As the company grows, so will the opportunities, with more aircraft, more travel, more responsibility, and more room to move into areas like inspections, flight operations, customer management, and leadership. We're building toward something much bigger than a local maintenance shop. If you want to be part of building it, now is the time to get in. The Bottom Line We're looking for people who want to get better. People who want to work on different airplanes. People who want to travel. People who want to learn. People who see a problem and start figuring it out instead of waiting for somebody else to solve it. The certificate is important. The mindset is more important. If that's you, send us your resume and tell us a little about yourself, your aviation background, and where you want to go. We'd rather meet the ambitious person who is just getting started than overlook them because they don't have ten years of experience.
