Job Description
Overview The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of ground support equipment used in aviation operations. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with various tools and equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining ground support machinery to support safe and efficient airport operations. Duties Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ground support equipment, including tugs, belt loaders, Dollies, Push Backs, etc. Diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment. Utilize power tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment to complete repairs effectively. Able to communicate equipment repair needs, and receive tasks from superior. Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency. Respond to emergency and or service calls. Remove malfunctioning GSE from service and ensure unit is not returned to service until malfunction has been accurately diagnosed and repaired Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical problems. Ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized, adhering to safety protocols. Skills Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools for mechanical repairs. Familiarity with diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters for troubleshooting electrical systems. Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance principles and practices. Solid mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical manuals and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently in all environments. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. The ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend routinely and walk and stand throughout the day. Ability to work a non-traditional schedule including weekends and holidays. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards required in ground support operations, ensuring that all equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for use.
