Aircraft Mechanic I - Airframes M1 Support Services
  • Nellis AFB, Nevada

$43.11/hr Updated 08/27/2026 Job Description Overview $43.11/hr Job Summary FT/PT RelocationNo TravelPossible The Aircraft Mechanic I (Airframes) role involves performing maintenance on aircraft systems, including structures, landing gear, flight surfaces, engines, avionics, hydraulic systems, and more, as part of the HSM-41 Navy or Multi-Foreign component. This position works closely with foreign and U.S. personnel to maintain and ensure aircraft safety and mission readiness. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Aircraft Maintenance & Repair:
    oRepair and rebuild aircraft systems (structure, engines, rotor systems, avionics, etc.).oWork with tools such as shears, welding equipment, rivet guns, drills, and more to ensureproper maintenance of systems.oHandle and repair components like hydraulic units, plumbing, and surface controls.
  • Inspection & Troubleshooting:
    oPerform 175-hour, isochronal, phase, and periodic inspections.oExamine engines for cracks, corrosion, leaks, and other defects; test engine operations andrepair or replace components as needed.oInspect and service various aircraft parts including turbines, generators, fuel pumps, and more.
  • Electrical & Accessory Maintenance:
    oPerform repairs and replacements of electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.oConduct preflight, through-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections.oService the aircraft by cleaning filters, greasing parts, and ensuring brake and corrosionprevention.
  • Jacking, Towing & Records:
    oParticipate in aircraft jacking and towing.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar to OOMA systems ensuringcompliance with 4790 and safety standards.
  • Leadership & Specialization:
    oMay specialize in specific areas such as engines, airframes, electrical, or armament repair.oMonitor safety procedures and ensure the aircraft remain in safe, mission-ready condition.
  • Maintain necessary certifications such as Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality AssuranceRepresentative (QAR).
Other Responsibilities:
oHousekeeping in the work area.oParticipate in FOD (Foreign Object Damage) program.oHandle hazardous materials (Hazmat) and work in compliance with safety requirements.oObtain necessary licenses for specialized equipment. of 3
Qualifications and Experience:
Education & Experience:
oHigh school diploma or equivalent.oMinimum of 3 years of
H-60S/R/F/H
Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotaryaircraft maintenance experience.oExperience with MH60-R Aircraft highly preferred.oMinimum of 3 years of experience as
CDI/CDQAR
(Collateral Duty Inspector/Quality AssuranceRepresentative) for H-60 aircraft.
  • Technical Skills:
    oIn-depth knowledge of aircraft and maintenance procedures.oAbility to read and interpret technical data, manuals, and special operating instructions.
Certifications:
oMust be able to obtain and maintain CDI or QAR qualifications.oMust be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications as per
CNAFINST 4790.2
(series).
  • Clearance & Licensing:
    oMust be able to obtain and maintain a T3 Security Clearance.oMust be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).oMust have a valid state driver's license.
  • Work Schedule:
    oAbility to work all shifts as per the flight schedule.oFlexibility in start and end times based on operational needs.
  • Language Skills:
    Must be proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
Physical & Medical Requirements:
Must meet physical requirements and pass a medical examination.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to work with foreign cultures and languages.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
  • Must be able to handle and dispose of hazardous materials as required.
Working Conditions:
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Computer usage for documentation using codes and clear written and verbal English languagerequired.
  • Constant use of eye sight abilities while reviewing documents, walking around work areas andconstant use of English language speech/hearing abilities for communication.
  • Constant mental alertness around all work areas, must possess planning/organizing skills, andmust be able to work under deadlines.
  • Climbing aircraft using aircraft step and all types of ladders or stands.
  • Standing long period of time with minimal sitting.
  • Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
  • Work site has head, hand, hearing, eye, slip and trip hazards shall use proper PPE and properPage 3 of 3 safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
employment:
however, 40 hours is not guaranteed per-week.

Working hours; must be able to be flexible, start time and end time will be dependent on flight scheduleand or overall tasking.
