Duties Help This position is loced in the Egress Systems Shop of the Aerospace Systems Section, Field Maintenance Branch, Aircraft Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of this position is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft egress systems, such as aircraft ejection ses, extraction and escape systems, egress components of jettison canopies, explosive components of escape hches and doors, and egress trainers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoots, installs, removes, repairs. modifies, adjusts, inspects, and tests each components as regulors, flow indicors, actuor motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, se actuors, capult guide rails, ejection ses, rocket packs, and canopies, etc. Inspects for safety, serviceability, and maintainability of systems prior to installion, removal, repair, or adjustments of components and insures proper installion and positioning of safety pins. initiors, simulors, and clearing mechanisms. Visually inspects ballistic lines, tubes, hoses, and linkage for damage, deteriorion, restrictions, and security of connections and mountings, and performs corrective maintenance as required. standards. Inspects pressurizion system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulors for general condition and serviceability. Checks canopy and capsule structure and associed seals, lches, and locks for damage and security. Installs and maintains Jet Assistance Take Off (JATO) systems when applicable. Isoles the malfunction and takes necessary corrective action. Positions, repairs, and adjusts required aerospace ground equipment, such as rail extensions, hoists, slings. dollies, and trailers used in performing maintenance tasks. Performs installion, modificion, and repair of aircraft egress systems. Solves unusual installion and maintenance problems by studying layout drawings, schemic and wiring diagrams, applicable technical publicions, and analyzing construction and opering characteristics of egress systems. Selects proper maintenance and repair procedures and corrects the malfunction and/or defective equipment. Diagnoses recurring malfunctions and recommends corrective action by initiion of Quality Deficiency Reports, proposed modificions, or other approprie action. Performs Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO'S) reled to egress systems. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions such as ORI, IC and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/ crash/rescue duty, security route, snow removal, munitions loading and handling. heavy equipment operor, maintenance of facilities and equipment or serve as a member of a team to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies. : Experience or training which demonstres the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specificions and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstres skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumic checks.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE

: Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modificion, repair and installion of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relionships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specificions. Must demonstre through experience and/or approprie training, a thorough knowledge of mechanical, pneumic, and electrical principles as applied to aircrew egress systems: of the concepts embodied in

AFM 66-1.
