Job Description

Aviation Sander / Paint Prep Technician Job Summary Prepare aircraft components for painting using advanced downdraft tables. Perform precision sanding, masking, and surface treatment to meet strict aerospace quality standards. Maintain a clean, dust-free work environment using localized extraction systems.
Shift & Schedule Days :
Monday - Thursday (Consistent 4-day work week)
Hours :
6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (10-hour shifts)
Weekends :
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off (Exceptional work-life balance)
Overtime :
Available based on production needs
Core Responsibilities Surface Preparation :
Sand, deburr, and blend composite and metal aircraft parts.
Equipment Operation :
Use pneumatic sanders, buffers, and integrated downdraft workbenches.
Masking & Protection :
Apply protective tapes and plugs using engineering blueprints.
Chemical Cleaning :
Degrease and solvent-wipe surfaces prior to primer application.
Defect Inspection :
Identify surface imperfections, corrosion, or laminate voids.
System Maintenance :
Clean downdraft filters and clear collection trays daily.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience :
One year of aerospace, automotive, or marine paint preparation.
Technical Skill :
Proficiency with DA (dual-action) sanders and precision measuring tools.
Physical Ability :
Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
PPE Compliance :
Ability to wear respirators, safety glasses, and protective suits.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent certifications. Work Environment Climate-controlled production facility. Utilizes downdraft tables to minimize airborne dust. Requires handling of chemical solvents and primers.
