Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Fire Alarm CAD Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating precise and comprehensive electrical and fire alarm system drawings using advanced CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. Your expertise will support the design, documentation, and coordination of fire alarm systems within building projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and electrical codes. Responsibilities Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts for fire alarm systems utilizing CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and NavisWorks. Create accurate 3D models and building information models (BIM) for fire alarm system integration within construction projects. Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, system designers, and construction teams to ensure CAD documentation aligns with project specifications, building codes (including NEC and NFPA 72 compliance), and client requirements. Prepare comprehensive CAD drawings that include schematics, layouts, installation details, and system schematics for fire alarm components. Maintain organized CAD files, version control, and documentation standards using Bluebeam or similar software for markup and collaboration. Assist in the review of electrical wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) related to fire alarm systems. Support construction teams by providing accurate CAD drawings during installation phases and updating designs as needed based on field modifications. Skills Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Creo, NavisWorks, and Bluebeam for detailed electrical drafting and modeling. Strong understanding of electrical system design principles specific to fire alarm systems and building safety requirements. Knowledge of electrical wiring practices, schematics development, system design integration, and layout design within BIM tools. Familiarity with electrical building codes such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 compliance standards for fire alarm installations. Experience working with electrical engineering teams on system design projects involving electrical wiring diagrams, schematics, PCB layouts, and control systems. Ability to interpret technical drawings including schematics for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation components. Excellent collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with engineering teams during project planning and execution phases.
