This role is built for a technician who can independently install, program, configure, commission, and troubleshoot complex security systems in demanding environments. The ideal candidate takes ownership of system performance, installation quality, and customer satisfaction from project start through final turnover. Leadership is part of the role, but this is not a management position. Due to the nature of SIS's federal and mission-critical customer base, candidates must be capable of meeting stringent background screening requirements and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. Prior experience working in government, military, critical infrastructure, or other highly regulated environments is highly desirable. Core Focus Advanced installation, programming, commissioning, integration, troubleshooting, and service of enterprise security systems including PACS, VMS, IDS, Security Management Systems, and IP-based security networks. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, program, and commission electronic security systems. Program access control panels, readers, credentials, schedules, access levels, and alarm logic. Configure and commission video surveillance systems, recording servers, cameras, and management software. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and communications issues. Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, panel layouts, and design documents. Maintain clean panel layouts, organized wiring, accurate labeling, and complete documentation. Run, dress, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, network, and specialty security cabling as required by project scope. Document installation progress, completed work, material usage, field changes, deficiencies, punch-list items, testing results, and project status updates using company-approved documentation tools and procedures. Maintain accurate as-built documentation, photographs, commissioning records, and project closeout deliverables. Provide timely and detailed field reports to project management to support scheduling, customer communication, billing, and project completion. Provide technical guidance to junior technicians when necessary. Represent SIS professionally on customer sites nationwide. Compensation & Benefits $35.00-$40.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications Overtime eligibility Project-based performance bonuses Annual performance bonus up to 5% Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan Paid Time Off (PTO) Paid Holidays Travel per diem when applicable Manufacturer certification training and professional development opportunities Why Join SIS? Our technicians are not treated as cable pullers—they are trusted technical professionals responsible for programming, commissioning, integrating, troubleshooting, and supporting sophisticated security systems. We invest in our employees and provide opportunities to work with industry-leading technologies while building a long-term career in the electronic security industry. Decisions are made by leaders who understand the industry, know our employees, and remain directly involved in the success of our customers and team members. Unlike many large national integrators and private equity-owned organizations, SIS prioritizes long-term relationships, technical excellence, employee development, and customer satisfaction over short-term financial targets.
